Inspired by a unique wall covering made of aluminium profiles that was discovered in Austria, Comhan commissioned the Austrian architect to extensively renovate the office in Uithoorn. The result: a beautiful modern design with horizontal slats and a completely renovated interior full of interesting aluminium details!
Facade construction with aluminium profiles
For the thorough renovation, the former office building was largely gutted, with the existing shell removed. The new facade covering design was then installed, with aluminium sandwich panels and windows as the core, and a freestanding steel structure with aluminium slats spaced one metre apart around the perimeter.
The pattern was designed by the Austrian architect, after which we worked out how to make the slats easy for the builders to assemble. We also made the precise joints using mitred corners.
As an aluminium wholesaler, we were closely involved in the design and construction process from the very beginning. For instance, we made our own mould drawings of the profiles. We outsourced the production of the profiles to one of our existing suppliers who were able to press profiles of these dimensions. We then finished the profiles ourselves, so that they could be easily attached to the steel structure. In the end, the were machined and prepared entirely in-house by Comhan.

Interior design with aluminium details
Not only the exterior of the new office is largely made of aluminium, but the interior is also full of aluminium details and accents. Inside, several glass partition walls were created in collaboration with one of our customers. We used customer-specific profiles that we normally supply to this customer ourselves!
Aluminium skirting boards were also installed in various places in the building, and the pantry and seating areas were finished with aluminium finishing strips (milled by Comhan itself). In addition, the stair railings were fitted with large aluminium panels specially milled by a partner capable of milling the project on this scale.

Pleasant working conditions in a spacious office
The office environment is very spacious, which creates a calm and tidy place to work. The workstations are equipped with ergonomic desks to further improve comfort. In addition, the spacious layout of the office provides the necessary exercise during the working day. A short walk is all it takes to talk to colleagues, and as the office building is separated from the production and warehouse areas, a visit to these departments also provides the desired amount of exercise.
The new headquarters have been in use since February 2021 and the team's experiences have been very positive. The new office building is a beautiful, future-proof design that will be a pleasure to work in for many years to come!
