Solar Team Eindhoven, a student team from TU Eindhoven, has developed a solar-powered off-road vehicle called the Stella Terra.  Stella Terra combines solar energy with off-road capability. It's designed to be self-sufficient, eliminating the need for charging stations, and it's engineered to handle not only paved roads but also rugged terrain.

Comhan Holland is proud to support this sustainable initiative by donating aluminium profiles and aluminium sheets. The aluminium components were used in the construction of the vehicle's chassis. Aluminium's lightweight, durable, and easily malleable characteristics make it the perfect material for this purpose.

500 kg of aluminium profiles and sheets

This is the second time Comhan has supported Solar Team Eindhoven by supplying aluminium sheets and profiles. In 2021, we provided materials for the Stella Vita, an electric camper. The students used it to complete a 3,000-kilometre journey across Europe in just one month, entirely without the use of fuel or charging stations. Stella Terra has been tested extensively in Morocco. Starting from the north of Morocco, Stella Terra has driven over a thousand kilometers through various landscapes and terrains

Sustainability is an ongoing journey that relies on collaboration. Therefore, when approached earlier this year to contribute aluminium for the team's latest vehicle concept, Comhan gladly agreed.to donate approximately 500 kg of aluminium profiles and sheets. With the assistance of aluminium fabricator Alu-Workx, the student team utilised this donation to construct the vehicle's chassis. Alu-Workx, also a client of Comhan, tailored the donated material and assembled the chassis according to the technical specifications provided by Solar Team Eindhoven. This collaboration represents a step towards a more sustainable future!

How does Comhan contribute to a more sustainable world?

At Comhan, sustainability is at the forefront of our operations. It starts with our choice of aluminium as a sustainable material. Moreover, we attempt to conduct our business in the most sustainable manner possible.

Recently, we've made significant sustainable investments, including the construction and renovation of our facilities with sustainability in mind. We've also installed solar panels that collectively cover over 80% of Comhan's electricity needs. Furthermore, a majority of our vehicle fleet was transitioned to electric vehicles, reducing our carbon footprint.

For years, we've diligently sorted and recycled all our scrap metal and packaging materials. Looking ahead, we aim to collaborate with our customers and suppliers to further enhance our efforts in reusing packaging materials, contributing to a more circular economy and minimising waste.
